Chef Wan is known for his eccentricities - both in his fun-loving character and his dishes. Needless to say we weren't surprised to be trying out his brand new Nasi Lemak Collection (only available at Chef Wan's Kitchen at the Esplanade Mall). The collection (sounds very much like a new fashion collection, but hey do you expect anything less from this well-known Chef?), consists of two creative spins on the local dish - The Balado Lobster Nasi Lemak and the Lamb Shank Nasi Lemak.
The Balado Lobster Nasi Lemak is shiok in so many different ways and is bound to satisfy the palates of nasi lemak lovers. First of all the serving of the lobster is very generous. The meat so tender and evenly cooked that it just peels right out of its shell. Plump pieces of lobster meat topped with a generous and spicy Balado topping guaranteed to knock your socks off. Mmmmm sedapppp......
The dish is served with fragrant nasi lemak, Chef Wan's signature sambal, belachan kang kong, egg and kerepek binjai. At only SGD 23.90*, that's a good deal for a big lobster meal.
If red meat is your preference, then you have to the Lamb Shank Nasi Lemak. The lamb is carefully marinated with a savoury rendang gravy and beautifully slow braised till tender - the meat just melts in your mouth. *We're salivating already as we're writing this*. The dish is also served with fragrant nasi lemak, Chef Wan's signature sambal, belachan kang kong, egg and kerepek binjai. This also at only SGD 23.90*, is a pretty good deal.

Another hit at the lunch table with our team was the Tahu Telur. We have had tahu telur in the past but this one takes the tahu cake. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the tahu telur was gone in 60 seconds. We have no words to say for this except, cuba dulu (try first). The peanut sauce was so good we actually had to ask for more (tak tahu malu).
Just looooookkkk at that piece of heaven.....
Another 2 dishes worth mentioning are the Sambal Petai Udang and the Sotong Masak Hitam. We'll write more on these in a later post but we'll leave you with these images to start you salivating.
