YOLO goes locol (local geddit?) with our hawker faves!

October 28, 2017

 Tempeh Avocado Salad

The last time we had YOLO, it kept us wanting for more…Many others felt that same way too. (shoutout to you guys who shared and commented on our last YOLO post. We see you!)

So…good news – YOLO has now opened its second takeaway outlet at Star Vista! And not just that, it comes with a fresh new spin on the menu. The dynamic takeaway outlet has reimagined some of our hawker favourites into healthy high-protein, low-calorie dishes. Just as how having Thai, Japanese, Korean and Malay food stalls are key cornerstones to a well-loved hawker centre, YOLO is bringing the same variety and great new tastes to customers looking to get healthy, without compromising on the food they love. Cool huh?

Basil Minced Chicken with Brown Rice & Egg

Check this out - a standard plate of Thai Basil Chicken Rice typically has 778 calories (yikes!); but YOLO’s Basil Minced Chicken with Brown Rice & Egg is only 580 calories. The dish switches out white rice for brown basmati rice, and replaces the sauces with natural herb flavouring. This way, customers feel fuller for longer with more protein, without the calorie overload or food coma from the sugar spike. Other new Thai dishes on the menu include Tom Yam, Tom Yam Tilapia, Chicken Teriyaki Salad and the Thai Wing Bean Salad. Yummmmm…..

The new menu also sees the introduction of familiar Asian superfoods including kimchi, tempeh and edamame at YOLO. Both kimchi and tempeh are traditional food in Korean and Indonesia cooking respectively, known for their benefits in improving strong gut health.

Rice Bowl with Kimchi and Edemame

Kimchi includes spices that helps to promote metabolism, radiant skin and is high in Vitamin A; while tempeh provides muscle-building plant-based protein, omega-3 fatty acids and calcium for good bone health.

For anyone on a gluten-free, vegan or vegetarian diet, edamame is an excellent source of protein, iron, and calcium, with low calories and no cholesterol.

Build Your Own Acai Bowl

It has been 6 months since YOLO first started serving Açai Bowls on the menu. Now diners get more choices for this sweet treat with the Build Your Own Acai Bowl option! We now have the option to choose one base from Açai Sorbet, Pineapple Açai Mango, and Peanut Butter Açai, and add on additional fruits and toppings. If it sounds too good to be true, guess what? YOLO’s range of smoothies now include Peanut Butter Madness, Mixed Berry Bomb and Avocado Bombshell!

Time to head down to YOLO at Star Vista to give these a try!
